The reference 1527 came out in 1942 and was produced until 1950. Patek offered this model in yellow gold (like the one being offered), pink gold, platinum and steel. This watch was offered with subsidiary seconds or sweep seconds, like the present example. The Reference 1527 is the most expensive wristwatch by Patek Philippe ever sold on auction, but it is only upon a closer look when it reveals exactly why it managed to fetch such a stratospheric price.
Conceived for the 2019 Only Watch auction by Christie’s, this wonderful feat of horological craftsmanship is a testimony to Patek Philippe’s skilled watchmakers, and tops the list with an auction price of no less than CHF 31 million.
